I love history, mostly because it defines the root of everything. and as we follow the events of life we see how today got to be what it is. As we go through our Constitution and Bylaws we can’t escape taking an occasional look at Bethel’s history but mostly we’ll be looking at what we believe and how that gives us strength for everyday living.
Since it’s beginning, Bethel has been known as a church where the Bible is taught and preached without compromise. Sunday I plan to elaborate on that statement as we begin a study of Bethel’s doctrinal statement. There will be copies of the full statement available for everyone who wants one. At the churches 125th anniversary celebration in 2014 I made the statement, “we’ll be changing the method of ministry, but we will not change the message”. I am more committed to that point today than I was in 2014.
I hope you’ll plan to join our family in worship this Sunday. The message will not be a history lesson, but we’ll talk about why we depend on our Heavenly Father for strength to live out each day. My theme will be “Walking With God Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” We’ll be looking at several scripture passages, but as seed for thought think on Heb 1:12b, “But you [Lord] are the same, and your years will have no end.”
Pray that God will be uniquely present this Sunday Morning. I’m looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday.
Yours and His,
